Summer Waves Crochet Top

I've been sewing and made my youngest daughter a double layered ruffle skirt! It's not perfect, but it's pretty good for my first ever sewn skirt! Because I made the skirt, I decided I needed to make her a crochet top to go with it :o) I designed this top to match her skirt and will get photos of it on her tomorrow. I started the shirt yesterday morning and finished it this evening.

The skirt took me a month to make from start to finish LOL

Purple Toes, Pizza, & Crochet

Well purple IS my favorite color :o)

The Lompoc Flower Festival is going on this week. My family and I help work the pizza booth for our church. We make french bread pizza *YUM* to sell. The pizza is SO good, and the fellowship is awesome.

Can you spot my husband?

I worked on a couple of water bottle holders for my girls during my very little free time! They would always hand ME their water bottles to hold for them, along with any papers, jackets, etc that they have with them. I thought it time they start carrying their own water bottles, and made some holders to make it easier for them. I designed these water bottle holders and will add the free pattern to my website this weekend.

I took some pictures of my cat today and thought I would share a photo with you :o) She's my sweetie, I've had her since she was 12 weeks old and she will be 4 years old this October. Tessa (short for Contessa) is a blue point ragamuffin and just the sweetest cat I've ever had.

This post is of all over the place in subjects, sort of like my life lately! Just doing a ton of things all at the same time, I know I need to slow down - after they all get finished! My friend is starting her jewelry business online (finally!), after selling locally the last couple of years. I had made her a website a long time ago when she expressed interest in starting one, so this week we finally got it up! There are only a few earrings at the moment, but we will be adding more pictures after the Flower Festival is over (pizza booth runs all day, and she's there for most of it!). Visit her and check out her jewelry at http://www.dovesjewels.com.

Until next time!

Weekend in South Lake Tahoe

I am home from my 4 day weekend in South Lake Tahoe! My hubby, my friend and her hubby, and I went to South Lake Tahoe (a good 8-9 hour drive!) for our weekend getaway. We drove up there on Thursday, spent Friday in South Lake Tahoe going on my first motorcycle ride on the back of my husband's motorcycle. He's had his motorcycle for almost 6 years now and last Friday was the first time I got on the back of it. We took a 3 hour motorcycle ride around Lake Tahoe (beautiful!) with a few stops along the way to stretch our legs! We really didnt think it would take us 3 hours to ride around the lake, but we were going pretty slow since it was my first ride.

On Saturday we went to Reno, NV to check out some of the casino's there and to get tattoo's! My friend and I got matching foot tattoo's on the top of our right foot. It hurt REALLY REALLY bad! My last tattoo was 10 years ago on my 19th birthday, and for this one we chose it in one of the most painful spots (the top of the foot and the side ribs are the two worst spots as far as pain goes). But, the pain goes away and in return we have this beautiful tattoo :o)

I did get a little crocheting done on the car ride up to South Lake Tahoe. I am working on designing a crochet dress in pink. I have received a few requests for a girls crochet dress, so that's what Im doing! The dress will be a little slow in crocheting it, I am also doing some contracting work for another designer. I am crocheting the finished piece for one of her patterns for her new book. I will give more details when the book comes out! :o)

In the meantime, my cat is pregnant, I have this girls crochet dress to do (I am writing the pattern as I make it), I am doing some updates for a couple of websites, I am babysitting my niece and nephew this month (so there are 6 kids, 4 being my own, in my house), I will be working the pizza booth for our church at the Flower Festival for 4 afternoons in a row, and I am doing the contracting for another crochet designer.

My weekend vacation was definately needed!

100 Bags

Yes, 100 bags! Some gals from church and I got together yesterday afternoon to sew 100 drawstring bags for the Grace Elliott Foundation. The foundation is throwing a baby shower for 100 high risk, low income, pregnant women and a few friends and I got together to sew some drawstring bags for the occasion. My friend was supposed to put together 100 little gift bags to send to the foundation, and when she saw the drawstring bags I made for the girls, we thought the handmade bags would be so much more personal than the ladies getting little paper bags as their gift bags. So, yesterday we recruited a few more of our friends from church (and my 2 sisters) and we had a sewing party. We cut fabric, pinned, and sewed. We did not get any bags completely finished yesterday, but we got to the second stage of pinning and sewing of the bags.

So this morning at 8:30 am, my husband and I began sewing more bags hoping to get at least half of the 100 done by this evening. My sister and friend came by this afternoon to help sew and add the ribbon to the bags. Our Pastor is driving down to Los Angeles (where the center is) tomorrow and will be taking down the bags that we finished today, and since we did not get all of the bags finished today we will have to mail them down there before the baby shower. We did get 48 bags to him this evening and will be dropping off another 15 or so bags in the morning before he leaves.

HUBBY

ME!

I am very sore from bending over a sewing machine most of the day yesterday and all day today, but I know it will be very worth it when those women get handmade bags that were made with love for them. Making them something shows more love than grabbing 100 paper bags from the store and sending them.
